Drawpile is a networked drawing program that allows multiple people to sketch on the same image simultaneously. It is developed as a Free/Libre Open Source project and is available at no cost. The goal of the project is to produce a simple, easy to use multiplatform collaboration tool. Brush parameters can be adjusted quickly from the tool box. Five tool slots allow you to prepare brush presets and switch between them quickly. Drawpile supports pressure sensitive Wacom tablets, but can also simulate pen pressure based on stroke distance and velocity. DrawPile is an application that enables you to host a drawing session on your computer and share the same canvas with your friends, to exchange sketches or ideas using colors and brushes instead of words. DrawPile's main attraction is the ability to host a drawing server and share the same sketching canvas with your friends or co-workers. To create a server, all you need to do is choose a title for your session and a password, as well as the maximum number of simultaneous connections allowed.

Multiple layers are supported. Layer parameters, such as transparency and blending mode, are adjustable and individual layers can be locked to prevent users from drawing on them or exclusive access can be granted to select users. DrawPile's ability to support multiple users drawing on the same board comes with a wide range of advantages, especially since it supports drawing tablets and brush pressure sensitivity. Furthermore, the interface is very intuitive and easy to use, making the application a good choice for beginners and experienced users alike.

A drawing session can be recorded for later playback. Skipping ahead and backwards is possible, and interesting positions can be bookmarked for quick access. A recording can also be filtered to remove undone actions, pauses or individual events.
