Kanapes Integrated Development Environment (IDE) was designed to help you with your daily CouchDB routines. If you familiar with applications like Microsoft Visual Studio, Kanapes IDE will be easiest thing ever for you, since you are already familiar with same kind of IDEs.

While we at Skitsanos were porting some massive data bank from SQL Server to CouchDB we ran into a problem - there were no tools that we could use as 'Studio' to deal with our multiple CouchDB servers, Futon was basically 'notepad' and not good for anything we needed, CouchApp, although it was doing somewhat good, it was too far from something usable, it required too much effort and time for doing simple things, so we needed right tool to do the job right, because there were none till now and we already had our own .NET API lib for CouchDB, we made a development environment on top of it.

With Kanapes IDE we targeted first of all developers coming from .NET/Mono world that have certain habits and certain vision on how development tools work. Idea was to keep user with none or minimal learning curve, to allow just to install, run and do the job. We wanted to make it simple as possible and intuitive, to make CouchDB even more attractive.

Kanapes IDE allows you to have multiple servers per active project, manipulate with data on your servers, copy databases between servers, even copy single documents between servers, you can execute your Design Document views and lists, you can write your Designs Documents in 'Source Code Mode' or use more comfortable 'per function' access.
