POI Loader for Windows allows you to load custom points of interest into your unit. The input files can be downloaded from the internet or you can create your own. With POI Loader for Windows, you can configure the unit to alert you when you are within a certain distance of a point or if you are driving over a certain speed near a point; perfect to warn you about upcoming schools zones and redlight and speed cameras. The unit will also allow you to search for and navigate to the loaded points of interest.

Custom POIs are places on the map that supplement your existing map data. They can include new restaurants, campsites, shopping centers, or any other type of place.

Custom POIs can also include stoplights or school zones that contain speed and proximity alert information. You can load them on your GPS device and receive a proximity alert when you are approaching the Custom POI and a speed alert when you are traveling too fast.

Using Express Mode
Express mode is ideal for loading Custom POIs that do not contain speed information (for example, restaurants, public swimming pools, or ATMs) or Custom POIs containing speed information that you do not need to modify.

If there is speed and proximity alert information contained in your data files, POI Loader can automatically detect it by looking for key information. POI Loader checks the file name for valid speed information and keywords to indicate proximity alerts (for example, "redlight," "camera," or "safety"). If the speed or proximity information in the data file is missing or incomplete, POI Loader assumes the file is a regular POI file.

Using Manual Mode
If you need to customize speed information for your Custom POIs, use Manual mode. Manual mode allows you to specify the default speed and proximity alert information as needed for each data file you are loading.

You can use Manual mode to override the default speed and proximity information included in the file names of the data files you are loading. For example, if you are loading a file named "Speed_30," but you want the default speed to be 25, you can enter a speed of 25 in Manual mode.
