Its design is based on the principle of step-outlining which allows you to plan your cinematic structure, develop characters and format your screenplay scene by scene, providing all the tools all you need to develop your idea into a professional screenplay.

Unlike regular word processors, Movie Outline is tailored for screenwriting and allows you to focus on your story and characters while it handles the formatting through handy "Tab and Enter" keyboard shortcuts and auto-complete. Movie Outline guesses character names as you type dialogue, suggests scene headings and transitions and automatically paginates your script to industry-standard guidelines.

Movie Outline's intuitive design helps you build and navigate your story outline, script and notes step by step through an AV remote-style console. Planning your story and script in this way helps you break your plot down into key sequences and see an overview of your entire narrative while working on individual scenes. Organizing your storyline is simple with Movie Outline's 'Drag & Drop' index cards which display your outline, script and notes for each step. The cards can be color-coded to match your current structure template and repositioned in your outline with your mouse. Cards can display step content or individual scenes allowing you to easily rearrange your narrative.
